Our history
The Great Lakes 20/20 Vision Foundation was born out of firsthand experience in the optical field and a deep understanding of the barriers many people face when trying to afford prescription eyewear. What started as a simple idea—helping just one person see clearly—grew into a mission to serve entire communities. Fueled by a desire to make a difference, our founder turned this idea into a movement, building a foundation rooted in compassion, equity, and impact.
What We Do
1. Covering the Cost of Prescription Glasses
We provide funding to individuals who cannot afford eyewear, ensuring they receive quality lenses (like polycarbonate or better) and frames that meet their daily needs, not just the bare minimum.
2. Partnering with Vision Care Providers
We collaborate with local optometrists, clinics, and optical labs to deliver affordable eye exams and glasses with dignity, quality, and care.
3. Community Outreach and Advocacy
We raise awareness about the importance of vision care, advocate for underserved populations, and educate communities about how clear vision impacts learning, employment, and quality of life.
